WEEKEND IN NEW ENGLAND

"Hey, Frayne! What do you have planned for the weekend?"

Jim looked up from his Psychology book and grinned at Robert Townsend.

"Trixie is coming up tonight."

"Enough said. You have plans." Robert laughed.

"Yes, I do."

Jim sipped his coffee.

"What's up?" He asked.

"Just a party at Julie's."

"Sorry, Rob, I have plans with Trixie, otherwise you know I'd be there."

"Well, bring her along. She was included in the invite. Tomorrow night, starts at 9pm."

"We'll see."

Rob left Jim to finish studying.

Jim looked at his watch. It was 1:35pm. Trixie was due tonight about 7pm. He had one more class, and then he had time to go back to his and Brian's apartment and make sure everything was picked up before she arrived.

He gathered his stuff up and put it into his backpack and got up and walked briskly out of the cafeteria. He made his way to his Psychology class with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face.

Later on...

Jim opened the apartment door and let himself in. All was quiet and his conversation with Brian from the night before came back to him.

Brian came through the door with a pizza, Jim was on the phone with Trixie, finalizing their weekend plans.

Jim hung up and saw Brian setting the pizza on the coffee table and heading to the little kitchen for the plates and napkins.

"Was that Trixie?" Brian asked, taking his jacket off and tossing it onto a chair.

"Yeah. She should be here about 7pm tomorrow night." Jim smiled.

"I was thinking about that. I think I'm going to make myself scarce this weekend."

"Why? Trixie was looking forward to seeing you too."

"Please! I'm not so delusional as to think my sister would be coming to visit me this weekend if you weren't here."

Jim grinned. "Sorry."

Brian waved his hand, "I don't see you getting too many phone calls or visits from your sister either."

"True. So, what are you going to do then?"

"My lab partner Ray, is going camping this weekend with a group of guys and asked me to go along. So that is what I'm doing. We decided that all work and no play make for burnt out students."

"You trust me to be alone with Trixie?"

"Shouldn't I?" Brian took a bite of pizza.

"You can trust me, I promise."

"I know I can. And besides, I am in the same position as you are. If I can't trust you, why should I think you would trust me with Honey?"

"Good point!"

Jim Had finished tidying the apartment, when he heard a knock on the door. He glanced at his watch and saw it was only 6:30pm.

He opened the door to see Trixie standing there. Trixie dropped her small suitcase and threw her arms into the air.

"I'm here!"

Jim pulled her into his arms immediately.

They stood in the door way to the apartment kissing. Trixie wrapped her arms around his neck and held him down to her. She opened her mouth when Jim prompted with his tongue. Their tongues moved together, dancing with each other. Finally, Trixie raised her mouth from his, she whispered,

"If I get greeted like that, I think I'll have to visit more often."

"Please do." Jim grinned down at her.

He grabbed her bag and held the door open for her to enter the apartment. Trixie walked into the apartment. She'd been to visit when Jim and Brian had first gotten it. But, their families were there too, and she hadn't been back since.

"I'm so glad to see you, Shamus. I've missed you." Jim pulled her close for another hug.

Trixie buried her face into his neck and breathed in his scent. He always smelled so good. Jim reluctantly let her go and showed her to the bedroom.

"Brian said to give you his room."

"Oh? And where will he sleep? I'll fit on the couch better than he will."

"Actually, he won't even be here this weekend. He went camping with a couple of friends."

Trixie's eyes widened. Then she slowly grinned.

"Does this mean we are totally alone this weekend?"

"That's what that means." His grin matching hers.

"We've never been alone that long; do you think you can stand it?"

Jim leaned closer for another kiss. His lips touched hers ever so lightly, and he whispered, "Hurt me."

Trixie giggled, and kissed him. They were lost in each others embrace when clearer heads prevailed. Jim realized that standing in the bedroom, kissing so passionately, was a dangerous combination.

Maybe Brian being gone wasn't a good idea!

Jim gave himself a mental shake.

"I'll let you unpack and I'll order us dinner. You haven't eaten, right?"

"No, and I'm starved."

"There is place that delivers the best pizza. Brian and I had some the other night."

"Sounds good to me. If you just had it though, do you want it again?"

"Of course- pizza is a major food group, isn't it?"

Trixie laughed, "Now you sound like Mart."

Jim grinned, "Still like the usual?"

Trixie nodded and he went to the living room to order a pizza with sausage, mushroom and onion.

Trixie came back into the living room and he asked her if she wanted something to drink. When they both had Cokes, they went into the living room. Jim showed her the stack of movies he had for them to watch that night.

When the pizza guy got there, Jim went to pay for the pizza and she picked out the movie.

Jim set the pizza on the same table he and Brian had eaten at the other day.

"So what are we watching?" He asked her.

"Lethal Weapon."

"Huh? Out of the new releases I got, you want to watch a movie that is older and we've seen a hundred times?"

"Yeah. I like it. It's got lots of action and adventure."

Jim frowned as he took a bite of his pizza.

"Are you sure you aren't watching this for Mel Gibson?"

"Nah! I have Jim Frayne and he is way better than a much older Mel Gibson. Even if he doesn't have a sexy accent." Trixie winked.

Jim rolled his eyes and settled back to watch the movie and they enjoyed their pizza.

A couple of hours later, the pizza was finished and the box thrown away. They drank more cokes, and they were comfortably ensconced on the couch. Trixie had her head cradled on Jim's shoulder.

By the time the movie had ended, she was yawning periodically.

"Trixie, you're falling asleep right here, let's go to bed. Tomorrow is a busy day."

Trixie looked up at him and kissed his cheek.

"Ok, that sounds good." Trixie yawned.

She got up so Jim could stand and he turned the TV off, and took her hand and walked her to Brian's room.

"I'm glad you're here." Jim said taking both her hands in his. His thumbs rubbed the backs of her knuckles, as he lowered his head to capture her mouth with his.

Trixie felt his kiss awaken her whole body. She felt it down to her toes. He let go of her hands to move his around her back to hold her tightly against him, as he moved his tongue against hers.

Her hands came up to tangle into his hair and she pressed herself further into him. When the kiss finally ended it was for no other reason than the need to breathe. Jim rested his forehead on hers. His eyes were closed, and he opened them to peer into hers.

Trixie's eyes were wide with surprise over the intensity of the kiss.

Jim cleared his throat before he could speak.

"That's a wonderful way to say good night."

Trixie nervously giggled. That was a dangerous way to say good night.

"I'd better go to bed." She said.

Jim nodded and let her go. She smiled and stepped into Brian's room, shutting the door.

Once behind the closed door, Trixie took a deep shuddering breath, and clasped her trembling hands together. Then she reached a hand up to lay her palm on the door separating them. I love you so much, Jim Frayne.

On the other side of the door unbeknownst to her, Jim was standing with his palm on his side of the door. Good night Trixie, I love you.

Jim walked away finally and went into his room and shut the door.

The next morning Jim awoke before Trixie and had her breakfast already made when she came out.

"You must have been up for hours to have a feast such as this ready." Trixie smiled and sniffed. "It smells heavenly."

"I hope it tastes as good."

Trixie sat down and he put a plate before her heaped with scrambled eggs, sausage links and French toast.

"Um, Jim, do you really think I will be eating all that?"

"Give it a try- we have a long day of sightseeing and you'll need the energy." He winked.

Their day was filled with sight seeing. Jim took her to the campus and showed her around. That took most of the day. Then they headed into Boston.

They finally came back to the apartment at 6:30 pm.

"So, there is a party at a friend's girlfriends' place. Do you want to go?" Jim asked.

"Sure, sounds like fun." Trixie said.

They took turns showering and Jim took her down to the small Italian restaurant a few blocks away.

After a wonderful dinner that they enjoyed immensely, they came back to his apartment to change.

Trixie came out of the bathroom and met Jim coming out of his bedroom.

Jim blew a low appreciative whistle.

"I'm going to have to keep an eye on you tonight." His brows rose.

"Do you trust me?" Trixie turned his words from awhile back, onto him.

Jim smiled, "You, yes, the college guys, no."

Trixie smiled. She'd chosen to wear her low riding jeans and a top that dipped a little low in front and was very snug.

She ran her hands up his chest and stepped closer to him.

"They don't stand a chance, you know. I've got you, and that is all I know, all I see, and all I think." Trixie stood on her toes to plant a kiss on his mouth.

Jim smiled when she pulled her head back from the kiss.

"That's good to know. I love you, Trixie." He ran the back of his knuckles down her cheek.

"I love you." She kissed him again and he reluctantly let her go.

"We can walk to this party; it's just down the block."

They left and walked out into the warm spring night. Trixie was glad that she'd grabbed her light jacket though. Jim took her hand and he explained, on the way, about who she'd meet tonight.

"So, the party is at Julie's and she is Robert's girlfriend?"

"Yep."

They'd arrived and the music was blaring. People were inside and outside.

Jim spotted Robert's dark head over the crowd, and taking Trixie?s hand into his, they made their way over.

After introductions were made, Julie joined them, introducing herself.

"So, you're the one who keeps Jim away from the rest of the population at large?" Julie smiled.

Someone pressed a beer into Trixie's hand, and she looked up at Jim in surprise.

He quickly took it from her, and looked around for a soda. Robert came to a rescue by grabbing one from a bucket of ice in the corner.

"I forgot she isn't 21 yet." Robert apologized.

"That's ok." Jim said handing the soda to his girlfriend.

A couple of guys came past them, and stared openly at Trixie.

"Hey baby, did you come to party with us?" One of them called to her.

Trixie felt Jim's hand snake around her and rest on her hip. She instinctively leaned into him.

The two guys took the hint and left her alone then. Jim was talking to Robert, and he didn't seem to realize what he'd done. Trixie looked up at him and grinned. Julie asked her a question and her attention was diverted.

A little while later three girls approached.

"Hey Jim. How's it going tonight?" A tall brunette literally purred.

"Just fine, Elle." Jim was keenly aware of Trixie's eyes on the brunette. He felt her stiffen beside him and he tightened his hand on her hip.

Elle, ever the flirt and ever so brave, ran a hand down Jim's chest and leaned closer. In a not so quiet voice, she said, "When you get tired of playing with the little girls, come and see a real woman."

Trixie tried to take a step toward her, but Jim's hand on her hip restrained her. Ignoring Elle, he buried his face into her hair by her ear, and whispered, "I have the only woman I can handle or want, right here! I love you." He nuzzled her ear and felt her relax against his body.

Turning. Trixie looked up at him.

"Is this the way it is? Do women throw themselves at you?"

Jim let a short laugh.

"No! Just Elle doesn't seem to get the hint. She keeps coming back for more rejection."

"She's beautiful." Trixie said quietly, watching the woman as she walked away.

"I don't know- I don't look at her." Jim shrugged.

"How can you not?" Trixie looked up him, a puzzled look on her face.

"That's simple. I think, eat, breathe, and dream- you! There isn't time for anyone else even if I wanted to. Which I don't. There isn't room for another human being in my heart because you fill it up so completely." Jim kissed her lightly.

"I'm just glad you are done here in another year."

"Why? So you can keep an eye on me?" he teased.

"I trust you, Jim. I want to keep an eye on her and others like her. You never know what they'd do to get you."

"I am looking forward to having you look after my virtue full time, then." Jim grinned.

Trixie socked him playfully in the stomach.

"Don't let it go to your head, Frayne."

The tension evaporated and Trixie and Jim joined the party again. Jim kept her hand tightly in his and they made the rounds. He introduced her to many of his friends, and she found that none of the rest seemed to be like Elle. Trixie relaxed and enjoyed the party.

On the walk home, they breathed in the spring time air, appreciating the freshness of it.

Back at the apartment, Jim let them in. It was late, and Trixie stifled a yawn.

"Trix, go to bed, sweetie." Jim said gently pushing her curls back from her face.

Trixie shook her head, "I don't want tonight to end. I have to go home tomorrow." She looked up at him, tears pooling in her eyes.

Jim kissed her mouth and pulled her into a hug.

"I know, but summer is almost here. Then we have a couple of months to be together. Only one more year and I will be home. Can you wait?"

He felt Trixie nod into his chest.

With a final hug, he set her away from him.

"Get some sleep, sweetheart, it's late and you have a long drive tomorrow."

Trixie nodded and kissed him. With a whispered good night, she fled to Brian's room.

The next morning, Brian came in after they had eaten breakfast. He plopped into the corner of the couch and looked at the both of them.

"How was your weekend?"

"It was wonderful. Jim took me to the campus and showed me everything. We went to a party at Julie's last night. I had a blast. I might have to visit again!"

Jim grinned, "I'd love it."

Brian filled them in on the events of his camping trip and before she knew it, it was time to hit the road. Trixie went into Brian's room, and finished packing her things.

She came out, suitcase in hand.

"I'll get that Trix." Jim said, taking it from her.

Brian stood up and walked to his sister. He hugged her tightly.

"Come again, when I can visit with you. I miss you. I love you. And drive safe, Trixie." She kissed his cheek and said good bye.

Jim was waiting at the door and walked her down to the lot to her car.

Trixie opened the back door and tossed her bag in, slamming the door. She moved into his arms and he held her tight.

"The only bad thing about seeing you is I have to say another good bye." Trixie sniffled into his chest.

"One more year, Trix, then we're done with the long distance. Can you make it?"

Trixie looked up at him with shining eyes.

"I have to, don't I?"

"No, you don't have to, but I'm glad you want to." Jim pulled her closer and kissed her ferociously.

When the embrace ended, Trixie looked up at him with her lips slightly bruised and her face flushed.

"You even make good bye, bearable." She ran her fingertips over his lips.

"No goodbyes to you are bearable." Jim shook his head.

"I love you."

"I love you too, drive safe and call me later when you get home."

With a final hug and kiss, Trixie got into her car and Jim moved to the sidewalk to watch her go. He raised his hand and waved. Trixie blew him a kiss.

One more year!
